Everything a car needs,

No obligation — we price it before anything is touched

Most cars do not need the most expensive thing on this list. An MOT is a legal test, a service is maintenance, and diagnostics are for when something has actually gone wrong — three different jobs that get confused constantly and cost people money when they are.

Everything is carried out at the Torrington Avenue workshop except the mobile mechanic work, which comes to you. Nothing is subcontracted out.

Questions

Choosing a service

What is the difference between an MOT and a service?

An MOT is a legal test against a minimum standard, producing a pass or a fail. A service is maintenance to the manufacturer's schedule. They get booked together but they do completely different jobs.

Do I need diagnostics or a repair?

If a warning light is on, diagnostics first. A code points at a circuit, not a component, and replacing parts until the light goes out is the expensive way round.

Which service does my car need?

Give us the registration and the mileage. That tells us the schedule and what was last done, and we will tell you whether it is an interim, a full or a major.

Can you do several jobs in one visit?

Usually, and it is cheaper than separate visits. Tell us everything when you book so we can allow the time.

Do you work on vans?

Yes. Class 7 MOTs cover vans from 3,000 to 3,500kg, and servicing and repairs the same as a car.
